Women in Healthcare: You're not losing your edge. You're losing your intuition.

If you’re a woman and health professional who teaches wellness, but secretly feels overwhelmed by it when it comes to your own body … this one’s for you.

Maybe you’re the go-to for perimenopause tips, functional medicine insights, and hormone hacks…

But behind the scenes, you’re stuck in a loop of saving and sharing reels, researching the latest adaptogenic protocols, and swallowing handfuls of supplements every morning to “optimize” your hormones, energy, and nervous system.

You want to be in integrity with what you share.

You love staying informed.

You care deeply about your health AND your clients' health.

But if your nervous system feels like it’s in a low-key panic trying to keep up with what everyone else is teaching 24/7…

If you’re more anxious than inspired, more in your head than in your body…

I see you. I get you. I’ve been there.

You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just over-informed.

And maybe a little too loyal to the people you follow, fangirl over, and learn from.

Gentle reminder:

Your body and intuition — not your content calendar, not your clients, not even your fav experts — is the greatest barometer of truth for what’s right for you.

Especially when it comes to what nourishes you, supports you, and makes you feel like you.

And if you’re someone with a hint of recovering perfectionism who genuinely wants to do what’s best…

Especially for your health, wellness, and longevity —

You might’ve mistaken “more” for “better.”

That ambitious part of you?

The one who gets sh*t done, who loves optimizing, who always wants to be two steps ahead?

She’s a badass. I love her. So do your clients.

But sometimes, she gets carried away, doesn't she?

And she can be really really sneaky, right? She masquerades it all as "doing what's best for you" or "self care" or "wellness freak."

Especially when you’re following smart, compelling experts like Mary Claire and Stacy…who deliver genuinely mic dropping information like

  •  How HRT / MHT won’t actually kill you in your late 30’s and early 40’s

  •  How to work smarter not harder to outsmart anxiety, brain fog, and ADHD

  •  How to build an evidence-based female-friendly exercise and training program that honors you in this season

  •  How to gain muscle and lose that stubborn fat that’s shown up in weird places seemingly overnight

  •  How to sleep deeper without needing 346 supplements and a 2 hour bedtime routine to get you there

All really helpful information, no doubt.

And in the spirit of spreading the gospel, you’re sharing their reels to your IG stories.

You're reposting their posts to your FB feed.

You’re dropping fire emojis in the comments of their TikToks.

Saving posts just in case you need to send it to your bestie later.

You’re not just fangirling — you’re sourcing. You're associating.

This is for your own research and it affects your reputation.

And even though you’re teaching these things to your own clients, and doing everything in your power to keep up – you’re over here wondering:

Am I doing any of this right?

You feel the whispers deep down – when you open your cabinet and see just how many supplement bottles you’ve acquired

You wonder if this is sustainable – and if you’ll be shelling out all this money and energy to feel good forever?

That’s because what started as you being really ambitious, empowered, and seeking like-minded guidance…

Has turned into noise.

And pressure.

And performance.

And if you’re really honest – wellness has wrapped itself in your identity.

And since your identity is housed in your limbic system

Any wellness conversation is starting to send off a fire alarm

Saying – You’re not doing enough. You could be MORE well. You could be sharing and teaching MORE.

Meanwhile –

That inner knowing that keeps trying to speak up and get your attention?

It’s getting drowned out.

Because let’s be real:

You trust them – all those experts out there.

And you love the dopamine hit of learning.

Especially when it totally applies to you AND the people you help and serve.

Because deep down, you believe:

If you don't keep up with everything posted and shared by Mary Claire, Stacy, Gabor, Brene, and Yung Pueblo…

…you’ll miss something important for you.

And you won't be a good enough provider for your clients

But before you know it — you’ve lost connection with the very intuitive drive that had you seeking knowledge in the first place.

To be clear —

I’m not saying to stop caring about your health.

Or ditch your protocols.

Or unfollow every expert forever.

What I’m saying is:

  • If it’s starting to feel extreme, exhausting, or obsessive… (and not obsessive in a cutesy, plaster-stickers-on-your-laptop kind of way)

  • If you open the refrigerator and feel your stomach tense, because the eggs and toast you’re craving only have 23g of protein — instead of the 30 you should be getting…

  •  If you’re forcing yourself to lift heavy weights even when you’re on day 2 of your period and your body just wants to go on an easy walk

  • If you’re picking up a self help book instead of the spicy smutty book you actually want to read…

Hi. I see you.

I’ve been there. I get it.

I’ve helped women in healthcare (including myself!) with this all-too-common pattern for nearly 10 years.

It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong

It means your internal personal medicine woman needs a little TLC

And maybe a break from the 24/7 input stream

You’re not designed to consume and churn out wellness info like it’s the news cycle

You’re not meant to constantly feel like you’re missing something

Or like you’ll fall behind — in health or in your work — if you don’t stay plugged in

Yes, you’re passionate. Yes, you just FEEL so strongly that more women need to hear this.

This can still be true.

It's not an either-or -- ALL wellness ALL the time. Or none.

You can spread the gospel AND tend to yourself.

But if you’ve been feeling:

  • More anxious than inspired

Like you're maybe a little too eagerly sending and saving reels on gut health, hormone replacement, or pelvic floor health …Because your friend needs to hear it — and you might need them later for the post you're writing

  • More mentally cluttered than clear

Because even though you try to remember your 30 supplements every morning…You get swept into kid stuff, meal prep, client work, and your own workouts — and you forget

  • More disembodied than embodied

Like you're preaching nervous system regulation at 2pm, but forgetting to pee, eat, or breathe until 6…

Then that’s your cue.

You don’t have to wait until you’re on fire or burned out to sink in and listen.

You can do it when the first tendrils start to weave their way through your life.

And because I know you love both science and a good challenge – here’s an experiment for you

I invite you to mute every advice-giving account — for 30 days (this includes muting FB groups)

Yes, even the smart ones you adore

Yes, even the ones who helped you heal

Yes, even your own friends and colleagues (this is the part where if you’re afraid of losing touch – I get it -- and gentle reminder that you can still stay in touch with them through DMs, texts, good old fashioned phone calls, coffee dates, or even snail mail)

You don’t have to unfollow them so their follower count goes down.

You don’t have to log off or delete social media apps from your phone.

But the only way to really hear your own wisdom –

Is to create the safe space and bandwidth to attune to it.

Before you attune to anyone else’s.

Feel nervous to do this? That’s normal.

I felt nervous when I did this too

But for me, several months into this experiment, I began to notice that the subtle shifts I made by listening to my own internal medicine woman

This created BIG shifts in my overall health (and my time, and my bank account, and my nervous system)

  • I went from 20 supplements to 4.

  • I went from counting protein grams to finding the exact right amount for me – not based on macros, but based on what intuitively felt correct (and sometimes this was WAY less than the experts say -- and I still gained muscle, didn’t gain weight, and felt more energized)

  • I went from needing lab tests every 3-6 months to tell me what was wrong/right to instead being deeply guided by my feminine wisdom – and just knowing when to slow down or speed things up

  • I went from feeling gaslit by certain “guru” medical providers who had all the credentials and reputation (and were reinforcing the practice to do more, test more, control more) -- to firing them and finding people who honored my autonomy and agency

This wasn’t an overnight thing. As someone who previously pledged allegiance to the gospel of women’s health – many of my inner parts resisted it every step of the way.

But it started with giving myself permission to disconnect and quiet the voices. Even the ones I highly respected.

If you’re curious about engaging with this experiment – and parts of you are resisting or worried about losing touch

Just remind those parts:

You’re not disconnecting forever.

You’re just sinking in to practice discernment, body autonomy, and agency about how much information you let into your system.

And from there - you can swim.

Your body has things to say.

You’re finally ready to listen, trust, and let it know its wisdom is far more potent than anyone else’s.

And bonus points – since you are so connected to these wise experts and sources –

When your body speaks up and you discern that you DO need more information – you have the body autonomy and agency to seek information from the best places

And you can click right over to their accounts, sign up for their courses, buy their books, and use that ambition to arm yourself with information to make an informed, body autonomous decision

All while allowing yourself to rest easy knowing that if your gut says it’s right, it’s right – even if the experts out there might disagree with you

You're choosing to go from "sink or swim" -- if I don't stay up to date, I'll fail

To sink AND swim -- sink in, and from there -- find the wisdom and discernment to swim

Need support making this your new normal? I got you. It’s what I love to help women do every day.

And if this hits home, drop me a line or a note – because I’d love to hear your story!
